Teams that won't attend the next CS:GO major will have a chance to compete for $10,000 in the same weekend at the ASUS ROG Nordic Challenge in Helsinki, Finland.
ASUS ROG have teamed up with the Finnish eSports Federation - SEUL ry to host a $10,000, eight team CS:GO tournament at the DigiExpo, an entertainment and electronics event in Helsinki, Finland.
The ASUS ROG Nordic Challenge 2015 will run from October 30-November 1, placing it in the exact same timeframe as the next CS:GO major at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca. As such, it will be an opportunity for teams who did not make the cut in qualifying for the major to still prove their worth at an offline event.
ASUS ROG host a new $10k tournament in Helsinki, Finland
The last ASUS ROG-branded event took place at Assembly Winter 2015 in Helsinki, which a NiP squad featuring Mikail "Maikelele" Bill won over Titan in the grand final, taking home $12,000.
The ASUS ROG Nordic Challenge will this time feature eight teams, with seven teams entering via direct invite and one team advancing from a 64-team Finnish online qualifier which will run on October 11. The format will be best-of-three single elimination playoffs, with a best-of-five grand final.
The prize-pool breakdown for the event is:
1. - $5,000
2. - $3,000
3-4. - $1,000
3-4. - $1,000
The event will be streamed in English and Finnish: the English stream will be handled offsite by NiPgamingTV while the Finnish stream will be casted live at the venue by Teemu “wabbit” Hiilinen and Juha “aNGeldusT” Kurppa.
